Quilting Adventures

I recently found a wonderful thread at Superior Threads. It glows in the dark! So when a dear friend had her second baby, I made the baby a beautiful baby blanket. But what about the Big Sister? She deserves something!

Big Sister’s favorite color is pink, says mom, so I made her a flannel pillow case~on the cuff I thread calligraphied “Big Sister Sophie”. Wait till she goes to bed and sees it glowing in the dark~and it glows for almost 6 hours!

What fun. I have lots of ideas running through my head~pillow cases for deployed soldiers with “Hero”, “USA”, “I love you”, “I miss you”.

Or for a wedding shower~2 pillow cases, each with “yes” on one side of the cuff and “not tonight” on the other!

Possibilities are endless!

As a child, didn’t summer seem like the endless time of fun at the swimming pool, riding bike, and being with friends? Here we are over half way through summer and there just isn’t enough time to do everything!

Although many quilters take the summer off from quilting, I find on really hot days, going down into my sewing area is the best way to beat the heat.

I finished the wedding purse for my daughter. We both love it! Look for it in the Memory Gallery. She has asked for a smaller flat purse, too. That is in the back of my mind, thinking of possibilities. One is using a hexagon closure. Stay tuned!

Did you see the Ohio Star pillows? The customer has requested a memory quilted piece for her 7 nieces and nephews from the aprons scraps. Since Kathy is a teacher,  I have designed a Christmas ornament in the style of a book with a button closure.  Photos soon!
